Sedimentary rocks have four steps in their prosses of being made, erosion, deposition, compaction, and finally cementation. There are three major groups of sedimentary rocks, clastic rocks, organic rocks, and chemical rocks.
The first step in the process of sedimentary rocks is erosion. Erosion is the destructive process in which wind or water loosens and carries away fragments of rock. The next step is deposition. Deposition is the process by which sediment settles out of the wind or water that is carrying it. Then there's compaction. Compaction is the process that presses sediments together. Finally, cementation. Cementation is the process in which dissolved mineral crystallize and glue partials of sediment together.

Organic Rocks - Forms where the remains of plants and animals are deposited in thick layers.
Chemical Rocks - When minerals that are dissolved in a solution crystallize.
